Many of you know that we have a regular ministry of transporting our church family to and from services and other events. To be able to do this, we have, for several years had two fifteen-passenger vans.
Over the years, the rugged terrain takes its toll and they need to be replaced. Recently, we had one of our vans replaced through the kind generosity of some state-side supporters. One down, one to go.
We’re looking for a fifteen passenger van, and currently we have a maximum of $6,000 to spend. We’ve found that Ford E350s seem to handle the mountainous roads we travel best, but we’re open to other makes and models. We’re not picky about the type of upholstery for the seats, nor whether the floors are rubber matted or carpeted. Neither the years nor the mileage are deal-breakers, either.
Really what we need is pretty basic:
- Fifteen passenger full-sized van
- Cannot burn oil
- Must have good to excellent suspension (it’s rugged here!)
- Must have good brakes
Some of us will be traveling to the States for a couple family conferences as well as visits with family members. In September, we’ll be coming up through Texas, and heading to northern Virginia, where we plan to visit supporters and Mike will preach. From there, it’s off to a family conference in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. We’ll be off to see family in Georgia, both in the northern and southern parts. And then, we’ll head to Cincinnati for one more family conference. After that whirlwind tour of the southeast, it’s back home to Baratillo.
Please let us know if you have a van that we can buy or that you would like to donate that fits this need. While we have a newer van that was given to us, the one we still need to replace is on its last…axles. And without two vans, transportation is, well, limited. We’re praying that the Lord will allow us to drive our new-to-us van back with us at the end of September.
